Description: Merlin is among a very small pocket of Mages that has the experience to combine two spells in one. This is a rare feat that only the greatest Mages can learn and pass on to others. Merlin is the last remaining Spell Weaver known in Tamriel and so he is the only one able to teach other Mages that he see's worthy.

History & RP-SampleBirthplaceMerlin was said to have been born in the Breton Homeland of High Rock in the City of Shornhelm.
BiographyMerlin's story begins as a fatherless infant raised by a Breton woman named Sylvie Leoriane, Merlins biological mother. Both Merlin and his mother lived in a small house in the High Rock city of Shornhelm. As Merlin grew older he began developing a natural affinity for Magic and was soon able to cast spells that not even the most experienced mages could cast. Merlin having been only fourteen years old with that kind of potential attracted the Mages Guild of High-Rock and they accepted him as a full fledged Wizard. Only fourteen years old and already a Wizard was a lot of responsibility for Merlin he could not enjoy life like normal teenagers, instead while he would be out driving back hordes of trolls most boys his age would be having fun in idealistic locations with their families. Family was also a big stress-er for Merlin as he was not able to see his mother very often.
Merlin as an InfantOver the years as a Wizard of the Daggerfall Mages Guild Merlin proved himself to be a worthy asset and when he reached the age of sixteen he was promoted to a Master-Wizard and taking orders from the Arch-Mage himself. Around this time Merlin saved the city of Evermore from an invading Military force in Hammerfell and managed to drive them off scared to death. Hammerfell never again invaded Evermore. Shortly after a party thrown for him by the Mages Guild for his victory at Evermore Merlin received word that his mother was murdered when Merlin arrived at his mothers house all that was left was the cold corpse of his mom lying in a pool of her own blood engraved on shattered remains of the house was a message from an inhuman entity threatening him to stop with his good deeds and serve the daedra as their pawn of destruction. Merlin however refused what the message ordered and was enraged with vengeance.
Young Merlin as a Master-Wizard After several years of investigating the mysterious attack on his mothers house, the death of his mother, and the mysterious writing Merlin later visited the Elder Scrolls Library in Cyrodiil only to find a prophecy that matched the events that took place in his life, Merlin read that a boy born from a mortal woman and immortal daedra would carry a natural affinity towards Magic unlike any mortal on Nirn but at the cost of a loved one. It was then that Merlin finally understood who the message was from, his daedric father. However, it was not easy for Merlin to come face to face with his real father, he had to gather a variety of rare ingredients to perform a ritual that could threaten the barrier between the mortal world and the daedra world. Being young Merlin still had much to learn and he let his selfish actions take hold and unleashed a gateway into Oblivion, Merlin desperate for revenge stepped through the Oblivion Gate and eventually confronted his father.
When Merlin arrived in his fathers Daedric Tower, he was confronted by a powerful and mighty daedra known as Xilixar. Xilixar confessed that he was Merlins father and told him how disgraced he was with his actions. Xilixar let Merlin know how sickened he was with the fact that Merlin was gifted with such power and he used it only for the greater good when he could do so much more, Xilixar even tried persuading Merlin to serve the Daedra and gave him a chance for atonement. Merlin filled with hatred and anger spat in his fathers face and told him that he would never be as disgraceful as his father and the two erupted into an all out battle. The battle was not going well for Merlin his father was the toughest foe he had ever fought during his experience as a Mage, Merlin still had much to learn and was inexperienced. Fatigued and drained of his magicka Merlin fell to the ground unable to move as sweat and blood poured down his body, it was at this instance that Xilixar attempted to take over Merlins body and use his son to walk the plains of the mortal world causing destruction and chaos wherever he walked. Merlin knew that he could not let this happen or Tamriel would be destroyed and so Merlin fought with all his might to resist being taken over by his father and with the last ounce of power he had Merlin managed to seal Xilixar in Oblivion for eternity. When Merlin gathered enough strength to walk again he left the Oblivion Gate only to see a large force of Daedra attacking the land.
Merlin battling his father XilixarMerlin had realized that when he went in the Oblivion gate it never closed and allowed easy access for lesser daedra from his fathers plain to escape. Desperate for help Merlin called the Mages Guild and Merlin along with a powerful force of Mages drove back the daedra and emerged victorious. However, Merlins actions did not go unpunished. Disappointed in Merlin the Arch-Mage of the Arcane University permanently banned him from the Mages Guild in High-Rock and Merlin became a Rogue Mage without a purpose. For the next century Merlin continued to practice the branches of Magic all on his own unlocking new secrets and learning new spells Merlin also expanded his mental understanding of the universe during his trials of training. It was around this time that High Rock was engulfed in darkness and Mannimarco who became the new Arch-Mage manipulated his posistion to further his knowledge in the Black Magic, and it wasn't soon after that Mannimarco had no need for Mortals and created his own Undead Empire in the very center of the Arcane University. This great battle would even involve the Mighty Emperor Tiber Septim who led the forces of Cyrodiil into the heart of battle. Few Mages in the Arcane University still knew of Merlins existence and knew that it would be far to difficult to stop Mannimarco without him and so a small pocket of Guild Mages seeked Merlin out in the great mountains of High Rock.
It wasn't shortly after the expedition that the small pocket of Guild Mages spotted a Tower built by Merlin himself. They had informed Merlin about the events that were taking place, Merlin felt that this was a perfect opportunity to restore his Honor from the event that took place one hundred years ago and accepted the invitation. Merlin then set out with the small pocket of Mages to Cyrodiil. When Merlin arrived the sight was grim many cities were torn to ash and the Empire was losing but Merlin still had faith that Tamriel could win against this blight. The Guild Mages brought Merlin face to face with Tiber Septim, Merlin was honored to meet the Emperor, but Merlin knew time was of the essence. Within seven days Merlin was able to gather a large force of Mages spread across Tamriel in which would be known throughout History as the "Unification of Mages", Mages from every province and race all fighting side by side with one another. Finally, Merlin and Emperor Tiber Septim rendezvous on the Valus Mountains it was here that Emperor Tiber Septim led his large force of soldiers with Merlin by his side and the two charged forth towards Mannimarco's Undead Empire.
The War Erupted into a bloody battle of darkness versus light many beast, mer, men, and women lost their lives against the large forces of Mannimarco in the war that would be talked about for centuries to come. Finally Merlin arrived with Tiber Septim at Mannimarco's Castle. When the two confronted Mannimarco he was more powerful than ever thanks to his undead transference spell, a spell in which he uses the undead to serve as his pawns making him stronger using their very souls to fuel his own power. Tiber Septim and Merlin went into an all out fatigue and magicka draining brawl but their attacks weren't doing much damage and soon Tiber Septim ran out of fatigue and was unable to fight, Merlin weakened as well had to think fast. Merlin reached his left and right hand towards the ceiling and began absorbing Mannimarco's power and transferring the dark magic into light when Merlin gathered enough power he reached out his hands towards the Legion of Undead and cast the Light magic at them soon the light engulfed the entire battlefield and the Undead fell to the ground, Merlin had finally put their souls to rest, but Mannimarco was not finished and charged at Merlin with beams of Black Magic, little did Mannimarco know however that Merlin had activated a Spell Absorbing Shield, all of Mannimarco's powers were only fueling Merlin while weakening his own. Soon Mannimarco was drained of all his magic and begged Merlin for Mercy. Merlin healed Tiber Septim with what magic he had left and helped him up. Merlin then informed Mannimarco that it was not up to him and left the decision to Tiber Septim who beheaded him on the cold stone floor in which he was on his knee's. Tiber Septim knew that he would merely perform the same treacherous act again and too many lives were lost for Mannimarco to be shown mercy. It was on this battlefield that Tiber Septim and Merlin both held a memorial for those fallen both undead and mortal alike after curing the wounded that were still spread widely throughout the battlefield.
Merlin fighting off Mannimarco's Legion of UndeadA few weeks after the War with Mannimarco, Emperor Tiber Septim came to Merlin and gifted him with the rank of Champion of High Rock to show his gratitude towards Merlin for his help during the war with Mannimarco, Merlin could not have been more honored and he was grateful that he was given a second chance to restore his honor from years past. Overtime Merlin and Tiber Septim became close friends and Merlin continued to stick by Tiber Septim in the coming wars. Many years After Tiber Septim's last great battle the Emperor passed away and Merlin was left with memories of his old friend, it was around this time that Merlin temporarily put away the battle life and became a Moth Priest that would help in the future with creating new scrolls. During Merlin's time with the Elder Scrolls and his fellow Moth Priests he was gifted with a special ability to read the Elder Scrolls without consequence, this was because his eyes were made of sheer magic and the side effects of the scrolls did not affect him. Merlin would continue serving as a Moth for the next few centuries and eventually earn his place among the Elders create scrolls himself though this knowledge would remain unknown for the rest of his life.
With Tiber Septim gone and Merlin's lack of interest with creating new scrolls he once again became a Rogue Mage without a purpose and began to make up lost time with the world, exploring many new lands and learning new secrets as well as learning from new cultures Merlin's knowledge with the world became even greater but he still carried this void of loneliness in his heart. It was around this time that Merlin sought out an apprentice who he could train and pass down his wisdom too. While visiting the city of Alinor in the Summerset Isle's Merlin met a beautiful young Breton woman named Morgan Le Fay who carried more knowledge in the arcane arts than any mage that Merlin had encountered during the many hundreds of centuries he lived. Merlin was most impressed with how wise and intelligent she was for her age only being 28 years old. Merlin knew that she would be the perfect apprentice for him and confronted her. At first glance Morgan was very shy but her and Merlin got along well and eventually she felt comfortable around him, it was around this time that Merlin told her who he was and offered her the opportunity to be his apprentice. Morgan, desperate to further her knowledge accepted and over the next few years Merlin began telling her secrets that no living being would think to know. It wasn't long after that the two became romantically involved with one another and Merlin continued sharing his secrets with her and her alone teaching her more about magic and knowledge in general.
The beautiful Morgan Le FayMany years passed and Morgan finally showed her true colors. All this time Morgan had informed Merlin that she was merely using him to better her skills with magic so that she could bend the world to her feet, going against everything Merlin stood for. Having broken Merlin's heart he was in a broken state and Morgan used this state to her advantage when challenging him to a magic duel, Merlin could not bring himself to harm her and Morgan cast a powerful dimensional warp spell that she had been practicing behind Merlins back to send him into a different dimension. Now with Merlin gone nothing stood in the way of her ambitions. Morgans first leap towards world domination occurred when she manipulated the Emperor by creating an illusion that she was his wife while in reality the emperors wife died years ago. Shortly after Morgan controlled the Emperor like a puppet and began formulating battle plans to invade Tamriel. Soon after Tamriel's long reign of peace and harmony was disrupted by utter chaos and devastation it seemed this would be the end of Tamriel.
Centuries later, after constant spell practice Merlin found a way to break out of the dimension Morgan Le Fay trapped him in. However when Merlin arrived back in Tamriel things did not look well. Morgan Le Fay still had the entire Empire in her hands and she continued to manipulate the heir's to the Imperial Throne by killing their wives and creating an Illusion that she was the women she slaughtered. Merlin later arrived at the Imperial Palace disguised as an Imperial Guard Captain when he arrived at the Emperors Throne Room he cast a powerful paralysis spell at the Emperor to keep his confused mouth shut. Morgan was infuriated when she saw that Merlin escaped her most powerful spell, she attempted to repeat the spell but Merlin simply deflected the incoming attack. Walking ever closer to Morgan she continued blasting all her spells at him and Merlin kept on deflecting them, it wasn't shortly that Morgan knew she stood no chance but before Merlin could end her life a large army of Imperial Guards smashed down the door and arrested Merlin for treason against the Emperor Morgan had once again spat in Merlins face.
Now Merlin was a prisoner of the Empire he once saved but a simple cell could not keep Merlin at bay not even if it was the Imperial Prison. Merlin managed to escape and became an Outcast among the Empire, with little time to lose during the next six years Merlin gathered an army of rebels that would be known as the "Knights of Order" a faction that Merlin formed that consisted of thousands of Knights both man, mer, and beast from every province. Merlin had to do the unthinkable and declare war on the Empire. The war lasted approximately a year of non stop fighting and bloodshed until Merlin finally had the upper hand and once again set out towards the Imperial Throne Room. Knights tried to stop Merlin but he was far too powerful and finally Merlin had Morgan Le Fay trapped in an unbeatable situation. The Emperor of course tried to stop Merlin but he opened his eyes by dispelling Morgan Le Fay's powerful illusion spell. It was here that the final battle between Nirn's greatest Mages would take place. The Throne Room erupted into flames while Magical bursts of energy formed throughout the room as the Imperial palace was collapsing. Twenty minutes of non stop fighting Merlin finally defeated Morgan Le Fay. When Merlin arrived towards her she begged him for mercy tears dripping from the woman he once loved, but Merlin had informed her that not only did he get more strong magically in her dimensional warp but that he also got more strong mentally and reached out his right hand to create a beam of shock magic and cast it at Morgan Le Fay ending her life once and for all. Merlin then disappeared with the flames of the burning Imperial palace never to be seen again for two thousand centuries. Leaving the damage for the Empire to fix and reclaim it's honor.
Merlin leading the Rebellion straight into the heart of the EmpireTwo Thousand Centuries of finally letting Tamriel flow with the sands of time, Merlin returned only to find Tamriel on the brink of destruction again. The realm between Tamriel and Oblivion was shattered and Oblivion gates were opening throughout all of Tamriel, Daedric Cultist known as the Mythic Dawn led by Mankar Camoran were toying with the order of the universe by unleashing a Daedric Prince named Mehrunes Dagon on the mortal plain of Nirn. It was up to Merlin and a few brave warriors to turn the tide. Merlin set out towards High Rock again as Cyrodiil had the oblivion crisis somewhat under control. Upon returning to his homeland Merlin formed a faction of Heroes that would help combat the gates spreading throughout Tamriel. It was thanks to Merlin and his comrades that he finally destroyed a large number of the oblivion gates around Tamriel and shortly after the Champion of Cyrodiil managed to help Martin Septim the last Emperor defeat Mehrunes Dagon and Tamriel was at peace again but had no Emperor. When word got out of Merlin's efforts to stop the Oblivion Gates he was asked to become the Arch-Mage of the Mages Guild. Merlin still a Rogue Mage accepted but with the exception that he would only be Arch-Mage temporarily.
Tamriel in Crisis again...The next few years Merlin proved to be an asset for the Arcane University. It wasn't until the Bruma Mages Guild was attacked by a mysterious force that changed the course of the Mages Guild's progression. The surviving Guild Member informed Merlin that Mannimarco attacked their Guild, shocked and disturbed of the news Merlin set out to find the source of the attack and evidence brought him to what appeared to be an abandoned cave in the Jerall Mountains. Inside the cave Merlin found a group of Necromancers that attacked him on the spot, it did not take long for Merlin to defeat them he afterall had thousands of centuries of experience. Merlin did intentionally keep one of the Necromancers alive to get answers from them. The man had informed Merlin that they were using black soul gems to capture living souls and power Mannimarco so that he could once again rule the land. Before the Necromancer died he gave Merlin a map to the Headquarters in hopes of atonement to the nine, he was a young man afterall probably still finding a purpose in life. Following the map it led Merlin to the Necromancers Headquarters. A gatekeeper at the front told Merlin that he would need to defeat him, Merlin simply reached his hand out and cast a fire ball at the Necromancer turning him into dust. After battling with numerous groups of Necromancers Merlin finally confronted his old enemy Mannimarco who now called himself the King of Worms. Surprised to see Merlin he threatened to turn him into a worm thrall and use him to help conquer Tamriel. Merlin simply glared at Mannimarco, remembering all the innocent souls he took from the War with the Undead. As a final atonement to the lost souls he promised he would make sure Mannimarco was killed once and for all. The two battled Light and Darkness again as spells were flying everywhere. When Merlin finally defeated Mannimarco he used a Soul Trap spell on Mannimarco and cast Mannimarco into his very own Grand Black Soul Gem. Mannimarco would not be able to ever again walk Nirn as his soul was now sealed with the sands of time. When Merlin returned he reported his success and promised to remain Arch-Mage. Now the Arcane University had the Arch-Mage they needed... one that never backs down for the greater good.
